Label Paper is used on retail items such as FMCG products. Labels are usually printed on one-side clay-coated paper, although uncoated or metallised qualities can also be used for marketing reasons. Primarily used in weights from 60-100gsm in coated substrates, paper for labelling often has a gloss or semi-gloss finish on one side, although it is sometimes also available in matt, glossy or embossed (often linen) variations. Label papers can include wet strength chemicals for returnable products, to aid with washing off before bottles are refilled. We also call it wet-glue or glue-applied paper to differentiate from self-adhesive or pressure-sensitive label (PSL) materials.
